About Neelum Valley tours

Neelum is Azad Kashmir's showpiece: a 200-kilometre river valley of extraordinary green, running northeast from Muzaffarabad with the Neelum river — and for long stretches the Line of Control — alongside the road. Tours enter via Muzaffarabad and work up-valley through Kundal Shahi and Keran, where the river-facing huts on the Pakistani side stare across at Indian-administered Kashmir a stone's throw away. The deeper you go, the better it gets. Sharda, with its ruined Buddhist university, is the usual second night. Beyond it, Kel is the jeep-road limit for most tours, and from Kel a short hike or pony track climbs to Arang Kel — the postcard village on a green shelf above the river that justifies the whole trip. Separately, a jeep detour from Dowarian reaches Ratti Gali, an alpine lake at 3,700 metres that has become the valley's signature photograph; it is open roughly July to September and usually billed as an extra. Roads are the honest caveat: narrower, slower, and more landslide-prone than the Naran or Hunza corridors, which is why four- and five-day itineraries dominate and why a competent driver matters more here than anywhere else. June through September is the season; check whether Ratti Gali and the Arang Kel leg are included, optional, or weather-dependent before comparing prices.

Neelum Valley tours — common questions

How much does a Neelum Valley tour cost?

Packages listed on TourHub currently range from PKR 19,000 to PKR 58,500 per person, across 6 tours from 6 companies. Group tours by road are the budget option; private and by-air packages cost more. Prices on TourHub come straight from operator listings and are updated daily.

What's included in a typical Neelum Valley package?

Almost every package includes transport, hotel accommodation, breakfast, and a guide. Lunch, entry tickets, and personal expenses are almost never included — budget a few thousand rupees extra. Each TourHub listing shows the exact inclusions and exclusions the operator advertises.

Group or private tour for Neelum Valley?

Group tours are 30–60% cheaper and good for solo travelers and couples comfortable with a fixed schedule. Private tours cost more but give you your own vehicle, flexible stops, and your own pace — usually the better choice for families with young children.

How many days do you need for Neelum Valley?

Four days reaches Keran and Sharda comfortably. Five days is the realistic minimum if you want Kel and Arang Kel, and six if Ratti Gali Lake is on the list — distances are short but the road is slow.

Is Neelum Valley safe for families and solo female travelers?

Tourist traffic to Keran, Sharda, and Arang Kel is heavy and well-established in season. The considerations are practical: long jeep stages, basic hotels beyond Sharda, and weather-dependent roads — families with very young children usually stop at Sharda.

Best month to visit Neelum Valley?

June to September. July–August is peak green and the only reliable window for Ratti Gali. The valley effectively closes to tourism from December to March.
